Coffee Break

Yesterday, Bill and I went to Al Farid on a church errand. Al Farid is perhaps similar to Walmart. They sell everything from groceries to bathroom towels to printer paper.

In the entry area is a machine that dispenses free Arabic coffee. The little cups can't hold more than 1-2 ounces of coffee, but it is enough to give customers a little boost before they head outside. Arabic coffee is strong, really strong, which is all the more reason for me to not drink it! I don't like coffee in any form, but Arabic coffee is particularly unappealing.

This machine, however, reflects Jordan's affection for coffee and their wonderful, inherent commitment to hospitality. I think coffee is Jordan's favorite beverage. What better way for Al Farid - along with many other businesses - to make customers feel at home than to give them free coffee?

If only Walmart could be so clever. For all of us non-coffee people, a free bottle of water would be delightful!
