Does praying mean that we will never make a mistake, that we will never say something rude to someone, that we will never get overwhelmed? I think we set ourselves up for disappointment if we think that prayer makes us perfect in the sense of never making a mistake.
Prayer does not make us perfect. It makes us equipped.
Prayer equips us to progress toward perfection. Reality is that we are still human with the human tendency to fail, to make wrong choices, to be arrogant and prideful. Even when we pray on a daily basis, we are still works in progress.
When we are going through life minute by minute, we are living with our feet walking on terra firma but when we pray, we are in the presence of our Heavenly God. Prayer provides us with answers that we would not have otherwise. It gives us power to keep our words Word-centered and our thoughts positive and faith-based.
Prayer does not make us perfect. It makes us equipped.
