Ironically, the Kingdom of God is the only
thing we win by giving up. God has called us to a life of self-renunciation and
self-denial. He wants us to live a life of brokenness and repentance.
Only as
we continually acknowledge our insufficiency and exalt His ability will we win.
Philippians 3:8 says it well: “Yea
doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge
of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and
do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.”
If we want to win, we
become losers. We willingly concede defeat. We surrender the things that matter
least to gain the One who matters most.
