You never know what you will see while driving in Jordan. Bill guessed these contraptions to be giant slingshots. Seems likely to me. If that is what they are, I would sure hate to be in the path of a projectile unleashed from these homemade inventions!
I say that people here in Jordan live by their "wits and tricks." They do not have the conveniences that most of us in the States take for granted, so they improvise with what the materials and resources they do have. Obviously, someone used creativity to make these unusual gadgets!
