Behind the Times
Sunday night, my mom and dad called to tell us that their power had been turned back on. In case we had been trying to call them, they wanted us to know that they were okay. They live in St. Louis and lost power Friday night when a tornado swept through the city. Bill's mom had mentioned the tornado to him Saturday but we were busy and never read the news reports. My dad said that it was the worst destruction he has ever seen in St. Louis. He has lived there for 40+ years and seen storms and natural disasters through the years, including the Flood of '93, but this was the worst. Every once in a while, someone tells us that we must live with our heads in the sand. But when you travel as much as we do, life ceases to have any routine, and we only check news reports sporadically. It is a little crazy that something so horrific hit our hometown and we were ignorant of the extensive damage. Oh well, I'm just enormously grateful that all the family is okay.
