"There are old paths God takes us down and old ways he uses which the modern world discarded long ago. Even churches have discarded them. There are teachings in God's Word that have been discarded along with the ancient pathways, teachings no one teaches anymore, passages no one cares to remember or consult. Yet these old things are the very things people need. The new and faster highways with their slick and ultramodern teaching are not getting them where they need to go. Because where they need to go is not a place but a work of God - the careful work he does inside them. When we move too fast it actually slows what God wants to develop and shape and bring to maturity in us in order that we may live well."
