God's Makeover

You know those before and after pictures that you see of women who get new clothes, new makeup, and new hairstyles?
These superficial changes dramatically alter their appearance.

Well, spiritually speaking, we not only can get a makeover, but we should. God’s Makeover is a complete transformation of our minds and hearts. As God lovingly and skillfully molds our lives, we begin to look nothing like we did before.

II Corinthians 4:16 says, “…though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” As we spend time in God’s presence through prayer, reading His Word, and meditation on His Word, we are being renewed. As we learn to hear Him speaking gently to us, we are being renewed. As we learn to think, behave and live less like the world, we are being renewed.

Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

God’s mercy and compassion “are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23). Every morning, when we wake up, God has a fresh supply of mercy and compassion waiting for us. We never have to be without His mercy and compassion because He has an abundant supply. We can enjoy daily renewal when each day we put our lives into His hands and allow Him to mold us into His image.

The wonderful thing about God’s Makeover is that it does not just affect our outward appearance. He does not just make surface changes to our lives. He starts in our hearts and transforms us from the inside out. We are not just new on the surface, but new through and through!
