We first met Tim and Teresa Wodoslawsky when they were pioneering a home missions work in Tim's hometown of Portage, Pennsylvania. Since our last visit there, a lot of water has gone under the bridge. Tim and Teresa now pastor Pinedale Tabernacle in California, not too far from Teresa's hometown. Their daughters - Story and Valena - are now 12 and 10, quickly growing into lovely young ladies, although they still love to have fun! In our lives, Bill served in Maine as an interim pastor for 2-1/2 years and we have been to the Middle East twice, working as AIMers. We have also continued our evangelistic work in the U.S.
The experiences we have all had in the last few years have shaped us and hopefully made us each a little wiser. Tim and Teresa are still sold-out for Jesus, maybe more so than ever! Their heartbeat is living and working for God. It is always great to be around people whose priorities are properly aligned.
When we arrived, I was in for a surprise. Teresa had taken our cookbook and, using selected recipes from it, planned meals for our time with them. She spent a lot of time organizing the meals and shopping for ingredients. It was such a kind, thoughtful gesture. It was a lot of extra effort on her part and I don't think I will ever forget what she did for us. Aside from enjoying the meals, her project was a great test for the recipes. Of course, they work for us, and we spent many hours perfecting them to our specifications. But it is another thing for someone else to use the same recipes. I was happy that there were no glitches and she was able to follow every recipe without any snags.
The Wodoslawskys were so kind to take us sightseeing one Saturday. After picking up some healthy snacks at Lassen's, a health food store, we drove to Yosemite National Park. The girls (and Bill) played in the snow, and we all took in the great view of Half Dome. Then, we drove down into the valley floor. We saw several beautiful waterfalls, had a picnic on the side of the road, and even saw some deer, who didn't seem the least bit alarmed by all the tourists driving past them.
Story had fun using my camera to take pictures of the landscape, and she got some great shots. A few are posted below. I hope a DSLR is in her future!
All in all, it has been great to worship and pray with the Wodoslawsky family these past four weeks and see the wonderful way that the Lord is using their lives. It's just too bad Bill and Tim couldn't get to the bottom of all those conspiracy theories! Ah well, maybe next time.
